Mount St. Mary’s University announces new Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management

February 25, 2026

This January, Mount St. Mary’s University received approval from the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) for their proposed Bachelor of Science major in supply chain management. The new program, which will be housed in the Richard J. Bolte, Sr. School of Business, will begin in the fall semester of 2026.

“Introducing the supply chain management major reflects our commitment to developing ethical, adaptive leaders who can navigate an increasingly complex global economy,” said Corinne Farneti, Ph.D., PMP, dean of the Bolte School of Business. “This major opens doors to diverse, high‑demand career paths for our students.”

The new program, grounded in Catholic liberal arts formation, develops systems-level thinkers through six interconnected strands: business and analytical fundamentals; end-to-end supply chain mastery; leadership and empowering people; global trade and geopolitical awareness; data and digital fluency; and experiential learning.

Students graduate with more than a degree—they earn a minor in business and a professional portfolio built through internships, simulations and applied projects. To ensure immediate career readiness, the program requires internships and integrates preparation in high-demand tools and industry-recognized certifications. With mentorship woven throughout by the Richard J Bolte Sr. School of Business and a dedicated Supply Chain Advisory Board, this program provides a unique integration of ethical formation, industry-relevant preparation, and professional engagement.

Supply chain management is an in-demand and rapidly changing career field. Logistics and supply chain work has shifted to a technology-driven industry, with more incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI), data analysis and automation.

The increasingly interdisciplinary nature of the work and the need for responsible, ethical workers makes the Mount an ideal choice for prospective supply chain management majors. Significant regional labor shortages, in addition to the solid foundation in moral leadership and diverse coursework the Mount provides, ensures that graduates will be hireable.

“Supply chain work sits at the crossroads of data, technology, and human decision‑making, where choices directly affect costs, resilience, and the responsible use of resources,” explained Farneti. “For the Mount and the Bolte School of Business, it strengthens our academic portfolio, deepens community and industry partnerships, and positions the Mount as a leader in preparing graduates for mission‑critical roles that keep the world moving.”
