Hood College Names Interim Provost, Associate Provost

Hood College is proud to announce that Paige Eager, Ph.D., has been appointed interim provost and vice president of academic affairs, effective July 1, 2024.

Eager was named interim provost following the appointment of former Provost Debbie Ricker, Ph.D., as interim president. Eager has taught political science at Hood for 18 years, serving in many administrative roles including chair of the Department of Political Science, director of Hood’s undergraduate Global Studies program, and serving as dean of the faculty of the past three years.

As interim provost, Eager will serve as the chief academic officer for all departmental and academic program matters at Hood, overseeing all functions of the office as defined by Hood College’s faculty code and faculty handbook. 

Eager will work with leadership of the College’s 17 academic departments to support the College’s academic mission, as well as academic support areas that ensure student success. Additionally, Eager will oversee student life, including residence life and student engagement and orientation.

Additionally, April Boulton, Ph.D., has been named associate provost in an expansion to her role as dean of the graduate school. 

Boulton, who has served as dean of the graduate school since 2018, will continue leading the graduate school while also overseeing the Academic Program Review process for all undergraduate and graduate programs, the Center for Teaching and Learning and the College’s new Biomedical Research and Training Center. Boulton’s appointment was also effective July 1, 2024.
