St. John’s College is an independent, coeducational four-year liberal arts college known for a distinctive curriculum centered on the seminal works of Western civilization. The College was chartered by the State of Maryland in 1784. A recent report of a joint accreditation team from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the American Academy of Liberal Education concluded, “St. John’s College deserves its reputation as one of the best and most distinctive institutions in the United States, indeed the world.”
