July 8, 2021
A seasoned intercollegiate athletic leader and advocate for student success will join Notre Dame of Maryland University as the new director of athletics, after a national search.
Effective July 19, 2021, Dr. Ashley Hodges will lead Notre Dame’s competitive NCAA Division III athletic and recreation programs, recruiting student-athletes and engaging in student retention efforts. Gator Athletics boasts nine women’s intercollegiate teams in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), including the 2021 and 2019 CSAC women’s lacrosse champions and 2019 and 2018 CSAC women’s volleyball champions.
Dr. Hodges comes to Notre Dame from Rosemont College, where she served as assistant athletic director and senior woman administrator. At Rosemont, she coordinated game management operations, assisted with general oversight of coaches and maintained the department's NCAA compliance. She also led a yearlong student-athlete programming series and managed the athletic training program.
“With her extensive experience and student-centered approach, Dr. Ashley Hodges will build on the strengths of the Notre Dame of Maryland University Athletics Department,” said NDMU Provost Sharon Slear, SSND. “Her background in academic and leadership development for student-athletes reflects NDMU's tradition of educating the whole person.”
