April M. Boulton, Ph.D., dean of the Graduate School at Hood College, was recognized at STEMconnector’s annual summit in October as a Trailblazer in Mentoring. The award is for an individual who has made notable contributions to their respective peers and community and who demonstrates excellence in the field of mentoring.
Tonya Hatosy-Stier, executive director of Woman to Woman Mentoring in Frederick, nominated Boulton for her work in the community with Woman to Woman Mentoring, Million Women Mentors, Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) and the Frederick National Lab for Cancer Research.
“April has been instrumental in helping to connect women, STEM, Hood graduate students to our mentees in the Woman to Woman Mentoring, Women in STEM Mentorship Program and for support and hosting our workshops,” Hatosy-Stier said.
"This is a well-deserved recognition for Dean Boulton for all her hard work and support of these students,” Hood College President Andrea E. Chapdelaine, Ph.D. said.
