Baltimore, MD - In its continuing effort to combat the nursing shortage in Maryland and across the country, Villa Julie College has unveiled plans to also offer its RN to BS nursing degree option completely online. This new option will allow working nurses to earn an accredited bachelor’s degree at their own pace without disrupting their personal and professional lives.

Villa Julie is the first private institution in Maryland and one of only a handful of institutions across the country to offer an RN to BS option online. The College will continue to offer the RN to BS option onsite and via distance learning through partnerships with seven area community colleges, giving nurses many options for how to advance their careers.

"We believe that nurses should control their education,” says Linda Diaconis, RN, Ph.D., Department Chair for the RN to BS Option and Professor of Nursing. “Nurses should have the chance to choose which course delivery model makes the most sense for them.”

By the beginning of the fall semester, all eight classes required for the degree will be available online. The College began offering some classes online earlier this year.

"By putting our RN to BS program online, we hope to make the dream of a bachelor’s degree easier to reach for today’s hard-working nurses whether they live locally or in another state,” says Joyce Becker, Esq., Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies. “Time and location should not determine whether a nurse can earn a bachelor’s degree.”

The Villa Julie Nursing Division recently received accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The Division is already accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
