Excitedly cheering after they scored, Kayla Richmond, 8, and Madison Summers, 7, played a spirited game of foosball with McDaniel College senior Andre Carneiro at the Boys and Girls Club of Westminster Tuesday afternoon.
"They gave us high-fives after we won," said Kayla, a Robert Moton Elementary student. "They didn't complain when they lost and said 'good game' to us. I think they're teaching us good sportsmanship."
Carnerio and his Alpha Sigma Phi brothers partnered with the Boys and Girls Club to organize a toy and school supplies drive. After they delivered the supplies to the Boys and Girls Club of Westminster on Tuesday, the fraternity members stayed to interact with the children — playing games, setting up a train set and helping with homework.
Boys and Girls Club of Westminster Marketing Director Erin Bishop said the organization has a very strong partnership with McDaniel College.
"We like to use college students as role models for the kids so they can see how hard work can work out in a positive way," Bishop said.
