McDaniel College was recognized for the third consecutive year as the top liberal arts college of the six in Maryland in Washington Monthly magazine's "Best Bang for the Buck" rankings, which assess the value colleges provide to nonwealthy students, according to a McDaniel media advisory.
The Westminster four-year liberal arts college ranked No. 63 of 402 colleges in the 11-state Northeast region, putting it in the top 16 percentile, according to the rankings, which were released Monday.
Washington Monthly determines its "Best Bang for the Buck" ratings by taking into account five categories: student loan default rate, graduation rate, graduation rate performance, the percentage of Pell Grant students and the net price of attendance.
McDaniel's student loan default rate is listed as 2.5 percent, the graduation rate is 72 percent, the graduation rate performance is 8.7 percent, the percentage of Pell Grant students is 27.7 and the average net price is listed as $21,700, according to the rankings.
