The new presidents of Hood College and Mount St. Mary’s University are gearing up for a new school year and students’ first day of classes Monday.
“I love greeting them and seeing the level of excitement — and some anxiety of course,” Hood College President Andrea Chapdelaine, 48, said in an email.
Both Chapdelaine and Simon Newman, president of Mount St. Mary’s, have been working hard over the summer to become acquainted with their school’s faculty, get up to speed about the school’s current efforts and start making decisions about their school’s direction.
About 2,300 students are enrolled at the Mount this academic year, according to university spokesman Christian Kendzierski. Hood College has about 2,200 students, spokesman Dave Diehl said.
