Maisha Khan, a senior at Hood College, won the Maryland Portz Award for the top honors student at a four-year college in the state.
Khan presented her research “Development of an Assay for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing of Coxiella burnetii” for the Maryland Collegiate Honors Council Conference at Morgan State University over the weekend to earn the award.
The Hood senior plans to attend medical school after graduating in May. This was the second year in a row a Hood College senior won the award. Hood students Eliza Funk, Anastazia Jablunovsky and Gina Sterling also presented at the conference.
