Mount St. Mary’s University students Elizabeth Boyle, C’19, and Sydney Johnson, C’19, have been selected for Fulbright Summer Institute programs, some of the most prestigious and selective summer scholarships in the world.
Through the US-UK Fulbright Commission, these programs offer participants the opportunity to visit a world-renowned U.K. university for an immersive, exciting academic experience, learn about the culture, heritage and history of the region, and come away with enhanced research, presentation and communication skills.
“I couldn’t imagine a better opportunity for Elizabeth and Sydney this summer,” said Jamie A. Gianoutsos, Ph.D., competitive fellowships director and assistant professor of history at Mount St. Mary’s. “The Fulbright Summer Institute will introduce these students to the culture of the United Kingdom and the academic rigor of top British universities. Not only do I think our students will thrive in this setting and have much to offer their peers in the program, but I believe they will benefit our community upon their return in the fall as they share their international experiences and perspectives with the Mount community.”
